What if doctors could find out what is causing an infection in just one hour instead of waiting three days?
In this episode of the Phoenix Prosperity Podcast, host Tim Fergestad talks with Dr. Krishnan Chittur, co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of GeneCapture, about his mission to help doctors find infections faster and give patients better care.
Krishnan shares how a personal experience with his premature daughter inspired him to find a better way to test for infections. Today, his company is working on technology that could help doctors identify harmful bacteria in about an hour and determine which antibiotics may work best in roughly another hour.
But turning a great idea into a real medical device is not easy.
Krishnan talks about his journey from chemical engineering professor to biotech entrepreneur. He shares how he learned to write a business plan, find investors, build a strong team, and turn complex science into a product that doctors can use.
He also talks about the importance of staying humble, asking for help, and never losing sight of why you started.
Now teaching genetics labs at Arizona State University, Krishnan continues to share his knowledge with students while helping GeneCapture move its technology closer to clinical use.
